Greetings, Adrian! Welcome to the test website of Adrian Warrick Stringed Instruments. You'll notice I've made a small number of cosmetic changes since we spoke on the 4th January. Now, the black line between "Adrian Warrick Stringed Instruments" and your address goes all the way across the screen, and all the horizontal rules (the thin grey lines throughout the page, such as the one above this paragraph and the one just above "Some final things to sort out", below) have the same 'clean grey' look. Of course, your half-violin logo will replace the temporary one I made (see below the menu).
I've also reduced the overly-large gaps between the headings and the paragraphs so there's not quite so much 'wasted space' on the page. I've corrected a couple of other minor things and cleaned up the CSS a little too. Do let me know if that problem at the top of the page recurs on your Acorn. I think I know what might have caused it, so I've changed some lines of code in order to try and prevent it. Hope it works.
Some final things to sort out:
Assuming everything else is to your liking, can we just sort out a last few things? Firstly, the writing in the very top-right corner of each page (unless you're not running JavaScript, in which case it won't be there!) is currently designed to say exactly the same thing on each page. The following suggestions for content here are still valid, but I've now created two useful links up there which I think might do. See what you think, then have a look at these and let me know:
- A 'CONTACT US' link
- The current date and/or time (using JavaScript)
- A link or collection of links to other sites
- Any current 'special offers'
- A link to a 'CHECK YOUR ORDER STATUS' or similar feature, if you plan to have one
Of course, if you're not sure or can't decide at the moment, the best thing to do is probably to leave it blank for the moment and set it aside for future use. Up to you! :o)
Other things:
To the right is a lovely little photo which I've had on my phone for years, which comes up when you ring me. I include it here merely as an example of how images fit int the page (and to provide a bit of extra colour!) I took it in Elizabeth Port early one summer morning while we were waiting to board Commodore Goodwill. Speaking of which, click on the picture below-left to find out lots of interesting stuff about Commodore's fleet, past and present! Also, try hovering your mouse over each image in turn to see what pops up!
